Warning against RentingItaly apartment ”Grottino” on Vicolo delle Grotte 10 in Rome, Italy HomeAway object 803450 SleepingRome object 313-A RentingItaly object Grottino We would like to issue a stern warning against this apartment which is owned and managed by a service named RentingItaly, but which also appears on the sites HomeAway and SleepingRome. The apartment is located on the 4th floor of the address Vicolo delle Grotte 10 and is known as “Grottino” on the RentingItaly site, as “object 313-A” on SleepingRome and “object 803450” on “HomeAway”. We arrived on 26 December 2016 to find that the apartment was ice cold and clearly had not been heated for a long time. The lady from “RentingItaly” (who didn’t speak a single word of English) was unable to get the heater in the A/C started and made frantic calls to the administrator of the RentingItaly service. Only after one hour did the administrator arrive and fix the A/C, but the apartment was still cold. Because this is an old stone building it remained cold for much of the coming week that we stayed there, despite that the heating was on constantly. The apartment should obviously have been heated in advance for several days before our arrival. We also noted the following: • The apartment was dirty and appeared not to have been cleaned for a long time. There were balls of dust in the corners and dust everywhere. • Blankets and quilts were dirty and appeared not to have been washed for a long time. • The kitchen area was unkempt and dirty. There was very little kitchen equipment and much was damaged. There were three glasses of which two were broken. • The front door was not tight and there was constant draught from the stairwell. • The extra futon type bed was broken and constantly collapsing. Even for a child it was virtually impossible to sleep in the extra bed. • Furniture was chipped, broken and damaged. Several light bulbs were broken. There was dirt and mold on the walls in several places. The roof immediately outside one window was full of trash and broken equipment. • The wifi signal was so weak that it was sometimes impossible to reach the internet even when sitting right in front of the router (a primitive mini router). • The apartment does not in any way appear as in the pictures published on the three websites. We paid a very high price for this apartment during the week between Christmas and New year and consider that we were fooled by an unserious service. We have rented holiday apartments many times before, in resort areas as well as in big cities like London and Paris. This is the worst apartment we have ever rented and in our view RentingItaly is a service that should be avoided at any price. Christian and Maria Palme, Sweden

We returned from Rome yesterday. The flat suited us perfectly and we were very satisfied with the service. If we had seen your internal pictures on the website, we would have been exceedingly disappointed. However we hope to return later in the year and will be in touch then
